Non-Tolled Connection
The East Texas Hourglass Corridor includes utilization of approximately 25 miles of existing, non-tolled US 271 and Loop 485 between proposed Segments 6 (west of Tyler) and 7 (north of Gladewater). Both US 271 and Loop 485 are state-controlled and maintained roadways which fall under the jurisdiction of TxDOT’s Atlanta and Tyler Districts. US 271 is currently a 4-lane divided roadway between Tyler and FM 16 (approximately 5.5 miles north of I-20). TxDOT has plans to eventually widen the rest of this corridor to a 4-lane divided roadway.
