Though there were fewer crashes annually on Toll 49 than other two-lanes highways in Texas in the last three years (2022 – 2024), even one crash is too many. The NET RMA is working to do their part to enhance safety on Toll 49.

NET RMA Improvements at various locations along the corridor:

  • Added centerline delineators to improve nighttime visibility
  • Added centerline and edge line rumble strips for improved driver lane-awareness
  • Added 13 miles of passing lanes
  • Upgraded safety guardrails
  • Added audible, reflective striping
  • Increased number of raised reflective pavement markers on centerline
  • Increased directional signage

In addition, the NET RMA is continuously reviewing crash data to evaluate ways to improve and enhance safety.
