Thank you for visiting the Web site for the North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority (NET RMA).

Since our organization's beginning in 2004, the NET RMA has sought innovative solutions to our region's toughest transportation challenges. We believe the best way to meet our goals is through shared understanding and strong partnerships with stakeholders in our region, from the citizens and elected officials of northeast Texas all the way up to our representatives in Washington D.C.

The NET RMA began with Smith and Gregg counties as Founding Counties. In the summer of 2006 four additional counties (Cherokee, Harrison, Rusk and Upshur) joined the NET RMA, marking the first time that any RMA in Texas had grown beyond its original founding members. The NET RMA made history a second time in summer 2007 when six more counties joined: Bowie, Cass, Panola, Titus, Van Zandt, and Wood.

With 12 member counties and a Board of Directors comprised of 18 of our area's brightest and most committed citizens, the NET RMA stands to make significant headway in addressing transportation issues facing our community. By statute, the NET RMA is able to participate in a variety of projects, including: tolled or non-tolled roadways, freight or passenger rail facilities, airport projects, intermodal hubs, and more. There are many options open to us as a region.

The NET RMA's approach to projects will be unique. It does not matter who gets credit for a project, who constructs it or which agency moves it forward. We want to facilitate the process for the betterment of northeast Texas. If the region wins, we all win.

As we continue to plan for the future of transportation in northeast Texas, it is important to recognize that this process requires patience, particularly with infrastructure projects. There will be ups and downs, but through partnerships, communication, and shared vision, we can build a transportation infrastructure that will adequately serve many generations of northeast Texans.

Thank you for visiting our website and for being interested in the activities and programs of the NET RMA. We look forward to working with you and the many partners we have in the community to make northeast Texas a better place in which to live, work, and raise our families.

Sincerely,

Jeff Austin, III
Chairman
