What’s your favorite mode of transportation, and why?
I enjoy traveling by train. Mineola Main Street hosts the Mineola Amtrak Wine Train each year. It’s an opportunity to ride from Mineola to Ft. Worth on Amtrak while sampling various Texas wines. I may only ride once per year but it’s a great trip!
Are there any transportation projects that you’re particularly proud of?
Segment 4 of Toll 49, the Lindale Relief Route, has had the greatest impact for Wood County. In addition to creating a more convenient way to travel to Tyler or points south, it was also instrumental in Sanderson Farms locating their feed mill in Mineola.
Is there an upcoming project that you’re especially excited for?
Each year I look forward to the Priority Project grant requests. It’s exciting to see the difference we can make in advancing transportation and economic development throughout our member counties.
What do you enjoy most about being a board member?
I enjoy representing my county on matters concerning regional transportation needs. There is a great sense of accomplishment to work on projects that benefit not only your neighbors but all of East Texas.
What is one of your favorite hobbies?
My favorite hobby is hunting. I work at a desk so I enjoy the opportunity to get outside.
